If you’re a rock fan in Milan, Alcatraz is a must-visit venue. Since the late 1990s, this iconic venue has been hosting a variety of rock and heavy metal bands, making it one of the top spots for live music in the city.
Venue Layout & Accommodations
Most of the audience enjoys the shows standing on the spacious main floor, but there are also three elevated areas that offer a great view of the stage.
While Alcatraz does not have seating, it provides a reserved area for people with disabilities, ensuring accessibility and a comfortable experience. To secure a spot in this area, attendees must submit a request in advance along with a disability certificate.
Pregnant individuals and those with injuries requiring crutches or other mobility aids should contact the organizers beforehand to assess their participation conditions.
Services & Entry Rules
The venue has a bar service offering snacks and drinks, but bringing outside food or beverages is not allowed.
Additionally, a mandatory cloakroom service is available for large backpacks, helmets, and umbrellas, for a fee. Some items are strictly prohibited inside, including bottles, cans, laptops, professional cameras, drones, and power banks.
Audience & Age Restrictions
Alcatraz operates as a standing-room-only venue, with no assigned seating. Teens aged 14 to 16 can only enter when accompanied by an adult, while those under 14 must be with a parent or legal guardian. To protect their hearing, young children are required to wear protective headphones.
Location & Transportation
Alcatraz does not have a private parking lot, so it’s best to plan your transportation in advance. Taking the metro is a good option—the Maciachini station is just 350m away (keep in mind that some metro lines stop running at midnight or 12:30 AM).
Another convenient option is staying at a hotel near Alcatraz, allowing you to walk to and from the venue easily. The area offers plenty of great accommodation choices.
