Cart & Horses: The Birthplace of Iron Maiden

Cart & Horses is a historic pub in London’s East End, widely known as the venue where Iron Maiden performed their first shows back in 1976. It’s considered the pub where Iron Maiden’s career began.

The only original member from that era still in the band today is bassist and founder Steve Harris. Guitarist Dave Murray joined Iron Maiden shortly after and also performed at Cart & Horses.

Because of this, the pub proudly uses the slogan “The Birthplace of Iron Maiden”.

The bar offers burgers, hot dogs, snacks, and a wide variety of beers, ciders, spirits, wines, and what Iron Maiden fans love most: the selection of Iron Maiden Trooper beers. Guests can enjoy the traditional bar or sit at one of the tables.

Downstairs, there’s a live performance space. Cart & Horses has hosted shows and events for Iron Maiden fans and former band members. 

In 2024, British Lion, Steve Harris’ side project, held a series of special performances at the pub. The event schedule is available on the website.

Cart & Horses is open every day and is conveniently located near metro, train stations, and bus stops.
