Battersea Power Station is where the iconic cover photo for Pink Floyd’s album “Animals” (1977) was taken in London, England.
Located along the River Thames, Battersea Power Station ceased operations in the 1980s and has since been transformed into a modern commercial hub featuring offices and apartments.
The story behind the album cover photo shoot is intriguing. The giant inflatable pink pig tethered between the station’s southern chimneys broke loose and drifted into the flight path of Heathrow Airport. Police helicopters tracked its journey until it eventually landed on the Kent coast.
To capture a photo reminiscent of the album cover, you’ll need to be on the opposite bank of the Thames at Grosvenor Rd, approximately 1 km from Pimlico Underground Station.
