A cover photo for The Clash’s debut album was shot at Camden Market in London, England, in 1977.
The exact location where Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, and Paul Simonon posed is on a staircase near the main entrance gate of Camden Market. At the time of the photograph, it was a ramp and is now famously known as The Clash Steps.
The Clash Steps are situated near the gate of Chalk Farm Rd, around number 28.
Another significant site in Camden Market’s punk rock history is Dingwalls, a live music venue opened in 1973 that has hosted performances by The Clash, Blondie, Ramones, and other prominent artists.

London, England, is one of the birthplaces of rock and has seen the rise of many bands that are part of music history, such as the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, The Clash, Pink Floyd, Queen, Iron Maiden, and The Police.
