The grave and statue of Johnny Ramone (1948-2004), guitarist and one of the founders of the Ramones, is located in Hollywood Forever Cemetery, a historic site in Los Angeles, United States, established in 1899.
The 2.5-meter bronze memorial was unveiled in January 2005, attended by close friends including Tommy Ramone, CJ Ramone, Eddie Vedder, John Frusciante, Rob Zombie, Nicholas Cage, and Priscilla Presley.
The base of the statue bears the inscription: “If a man can tell if he’s been successful in his life by having great friends, then I have been very successful.”
Linda Ramone, the musician’s widow and caretaker of his estate, organizes the annual “Johnny Ramone Tribute,” an event celebrating the legacy of the legendary guitarist. For the 20th anniversary of Johnny’s death, Linda hosted a special event featuring CJ Ramone, Tim Armstrong (Rancid), and Billy Idol.
Johnny Ramone’s statue is not far from the grave of his bandmate Dee Dee Ramone (1951-2002), who is also buried in Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The area where they are located is known as the Garden of Legends.
Hollywood Forever Cemetery is the final resting place of many celebrities, including Chris Cornell, Mark Lanegan, Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney, Tyrone Power, and Valerie Harper.
