Madison Square Garden is New York City’s most iconic multi-purpose arena, originally opened in 1879.
The current Madison Square Garden complex opened on February 11, 1968. Structurally, the arena was considered an engineering marvel for its time, including its famous circular shape and unique cable-supported roof, which contribute to its intimate atmosphere.
Because of this, it has also become one of the most famous arenas in the world, hosting numerous sporting events, conventions, and major rock concerts.
Pearl Jam, U2, Kiss, The Who, The 1975, Muse, Deftones, twenty one pilots, The Killers, Rage Against the Machine, Pierce the Veil, and Tool were some of the names that have performed at Madison Square Garden.
Typically, the concert season runs from May to September.
Most of the available seats are in the balcony. However, depending on the show, the floor space can also be occupied by chairs.
Inside the Madison Square Garden, cash is not accepted—only electronic or card payments are allowed.
The arena is also the home of the New York Knicks basketball team.
