Metropol is a historic live music and events club located in the vibrant, colourful neighbourhood of Schöneberg, in Berlin, Germany.
With a capacity of 1,300 people, this handsome venue maintains a busy show calendar throughout the year, welcoming artists from a wide range of styles, including rock.
Alkaline Trio, The Darkness, Parkway Drive, Melvins, Redd Kross, The Damned, Mumford & Sons, Set It Off, Nada Surf, A Place to Bury Strangers, The Warning and Mr. Big are just some of the names that have taken the stage at the venue.
The audience can watch shows from the standing floor or the mezzanine above. The space is compact enough that sightlines to the stage are good from virtually anywhere in the room — one of those venues where there’s genuinely no bad spot.
The building itself dates back to 1906 and has lived many lives over the decades — theatre, cinema, performance hall, restaurant — before becoming the music venue it is today. It was heavily damaged during the Second World War, adding another layer to an already rich history.
By the late 1980s, Metropol had become one of the most celebrated clubs in the city. Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys, Bela B. of Die Ärzte, The Human League, Tina Turner, David Bowie and Depeche Mode all performed here during that era.
The club is located at Nollendorfpl. 5 and is easy to reach by public transport.
The surrounding area has a good selection of restaurants, bars and supermarkets nearby.
