Scandinavium is a historic multi-purpose arena in Gothenburg, Sweden, affectionately called the “Coliseum” by locals, with a capacity of 12,000 people.
Designed by Danish architect Poul Hultberg, the arena opened in 1971 and was renovated in 1991.
It hosts major sports and entertainment events, including rock and heavy metal concerts. Iron Maiden, In Flames, Ghost, Kiss, The Cure, Thåström, Sabaton, Green Day, Volbeat, Rod Stewart, and Saxon are just some of the names that have taken the stage at Scandinavium.
Attendees can choose to stand in the floor area or sit in the bleachers, which are usually divided into two sections.
Scandinavium is also home to the Frölunda HC ice hockey team.
Adjacent to the arena is a McDonald’s that typically stays open after concerts.
