If you’re planning to travel to the UK and Ireland to catch the Oasis reunion tour in July, August and September 2025, you’ll have the chance to visit some significant places in the history of the Gallagher brothers’ band.
Oasis’s early career in the first half of the 1990s immortalized many locations, especially in Manchester, their hometown.
In this post, I’ve put together a list of Oasis landmarks you can visit in London and Manchester:
- LONDON: Berwick Street: The Street of (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?
- MANCHESTER: Noel and Liam Gallagher Mural
- MANCHESTER: Sifters Records
- MANCHESTER: Johnny Roadhouse Music
- MANCHESTER: The Boardwalk – Venue of Oasis’s First Show
- MANCHESTER: Definitely Maybe Album Cover House
- MANCHESTER: Haçienda – Former Live Music Club
- MANCHESTER: Etihad Stadium – City of Manchester Stadium
- MANCHESTER: Oasis Mural Near Heaton Park
LONDON: Berwick Street – The Street of (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?
The album cover for (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, released in 1995, was photographed on Berwick Street, between Sister Ray and Reckless Records, in the Soho district of London.
After days of wandering around the British capital, art director Brian Cannon and photographer Michael Spencer Jones chose Berwick Street for its visual perspective – they were looking for a street flanked by buildings with a vanishing point.
The image, with two blurred figures walking in opposite directions (possibly suggesting Liam and Noel, as they didn’t participate in the photoshoot), refers to a concept often repeated by Noel Gallagher: that in life, there are many questions but few answers.
The album’s massive success turned Berwick Street into a pilgrimage site for Oasis fans – inevitably also reflecting a nod, intentional or not, to the Beatles and their Abbey Road.
MANCHESTER: Noel and Liam Gallagher Mural
A mural of Noel and Liam Gallagher was painted by local artist Pic.One.Art in Manchester, England, in 2024. It is located on the side wall of the historic Sifters Records (177 Fog Lane).
The mural aims to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe, which was released on August 29, 1994.
MANCHESTER: Sifters Records
Sifters Records (177 Fog Lane) is a traditional record store in a suburb of Manchester, England, with a strong connection to Noel Gallagher, who used to shop there.
This is one of the most important places for Oasis fans who enjoy visiting landmarks in Manchester.
In the song “Shakermaker,” from Oasis’s debut album Definitely Maybe (1994), the songwriter and guitarist even wrote about one of his memories of the shop: “Mister Sifter sold me songs; When I was just sixteen.”
The small shop, still owned by Mr. Sifter, continues to sell vinyl records and CDs.
The walls are filled with posters of artists and bands – of course, images of Oasis are prominently featured.
Some Oasis fans might even remember the shop from the animated music video for “The Masterplan” (check it out at the 4:50 mark).
MANCHESTER: Johnny Roadhouse Music
Johnny Roadhouse Music (123 Oxford Rd) is a historic musical instrument store in Manchester, opened in 1955 by British saxophonist John Roadhouse (1921-2009).
The shop has been frequented by many famous musicians and bands, including Oasis.
Customers can explore three floors filled with a variety of new instruments and accessories: guitars, basses, drums, amplifiers, and more.
Another highlight of Johnny Roadhouse Music is its collection of instruments signed by members of legendary bands, such as Oasis and The Stone Roses. There’s even a guitar that was played by Paul McCartney. These items are not for sale.
Johnny Roadhouse Music also appears in the music video for “The Masterplan” (check it out at the 4:44 mark).
MANCHESTER: The Boardwalk – Venue of Oasis’s First Show
The Boardwalk was a live music venue in Manchester, England, famous for hosting Oasis’s first-ever gig in August 1991.
The venue operated from 1984 until 1999. Besides Oasis, other important bands like The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, and The Verve also performed there.
Located at 21 Little Peter Street, The Boardwalk has since been converted into an office building. In tribute, a traditional Blue Plaque has been placed on the beautiful brick facade.
MANCHESTER: Definitely Maybe Album Cover House
The house featured on the cover of Oasis’s Definitely Maybe album is located at 8 Stratford Avenue in the Didsbury suburb of Manchester. It was the home of guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs.
The living room of this Victorian house – an architectural style from the 19th century – was where Noel and Liam Gallagher, Bonehead, Paul McGuigan, and Tony McCarroll took the iconic photo for the band’s debut album, released in 1994.
Another fun fact is that much of the “Shakermaker” music video was filmed in the back garden of the house.
Even though you can’t go inside, many fans visit to see and take photos. Remember to always respect the privacy of the residents and the neighborhood.
MANCHESTER: Haçienda – Former Live Music Club
The Haçienda was one of the most important entertainment venues in Manchester, England. Oasis was among the many bands that played there.
Opened in 1982 on Whitworth Street West, the venue was enormous, featuring a live music stage, a dance floor, a restaurant, three bars, and a café.
After it closed in 1997, the space was converted into apartments. The building has kept the same name.
MANCHESTER: Etihad Stadium – City of Manchester Stadium
Liam and Noel are huge Manchester City fans. The brothers have consistently shown their love for the club both on stage and at the stadium, even during the years when the team wasn’t winning titles or playing in the Premier League.
As a result, many Oasis fans have come to identify with the club and often express a desire to take a tour of the Etihad Stadium, also known as the City of Manchester Stadium.
It is recommended to book the tour in advance.
MANCHESTER: Oasis Mural Near Heaton Park
Artist Scott Wilcock aka Snow Graffiti painted a mural of Oasis featuring Noel and Liam Gallagher in Whitefield, Greater Manchester, near Heaton Park, where Oasis is set to perform during their reunion tour.
The artwork is located at 71 Bury Old Rd, next to the historic Coach & Horses pub.
