History of The Gov
After being taken over by the Tonkin family in 1993, The Gov quickly became a meeting place for musicians and gig lovers, hosting local talents on the Gibson Stage and international artists on the main stage.
Over the years, iconic metal, hardcore, and punk bands such as Descendents, Sepultura, Anberlin, OFF!, Wolfmother, The Exploited, Paul Di’Anno, Behemoth, Regurgitator, Strung Out, You Am I, and Frenzal Rhomb have performed and continue to perform at the venue.
The Gov also proudly operates on Kaurna, acknowledging that this is Aboriginal territory and honoring its traditional custodians and elders.
