Inside Bangers Open Air (Video)

What is Bangers Open Air?

Bangers Open Air was born in 2023 as the Brazilian edition of the German Festival Summer Breeze. After two editions under that name (2023 and 2024), the festival was rebranded in 2025 and found its own identity.

The spirit, however, remains the same: a world-class metal festival at the Memorial da América Latina, with a carefully curated lineup blending global icons with the best of the Brazilian scene.

Produced by HonourSounds, the festival takes place in the first half of the year, typically in late April or early May. With attendees traveling from across Brazil and abroad, Bangers Open Air cements itself as one of the largest metal events in Latin America.

The Stages and Festival Layout

Bangers Open Air Map 2026 - São Paulo, Brazil - Travel 2 Concert

The festival takes place at the Memorial da América Latina, a cultural complex designed by legendary Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. The grounds are large enough to accommodate four simultaneous stages, food areas, rest zones, brand partner stands, and merch stores for the bands.

Shows take place across four stages:

Hot Stage and Ice Stage: the main stages, hosting headliners and the biggest productions.

Sun Stage and Waves Stage: mid-sized and smaller acts, with a more intimate feel and closer access to the artists.

Since all four stages run simultaneously, some set times will overlap. Part of the fun is building your own schedule. Arrive early on day one to get your bearings and plan your moves between stages.

Beyond the shows, Bangers Open Air also features:

Tattoo area with multiple artists available for walk-ins and bookings

Metal market with band tees, vinyl records, and accessories

Kids’ zone with supervised activities, so parents can enjoy the shows while their children are safe — and monitored via app in real time

Rest areas scattered throughout the grounds

Bangers Lounge, the festival’s VIP area

Getting to Memorial da América Latina

The festival’s strong recommendation is to use public transport — and if you’re visiting from abroad, this is easily the best advice.

The Barra Funda neighborhood is one of São Paulo’s best-connected transport hubs, with the Memorial literally adjacent to a subway station, commuter rail terminal, and a long-distance bus station. Driving is a frustrating experience: traffic backs up badly, parking lots near the venue fill fast, and prices spike on event days.

Metro (Subway): The Palmeiras-Barra Funda station (Line 3 – Red) is steps from the Memorial. Once you exit the station, you’ll see the crowd flowing toward the festival. The metro runs from 4:40 AM to midnight, comfortably covering the end of shows scheduled to wrap up by 11:00 PM.

CPTM Commuter Rail: The same Palmeiras-Barra Funda station is also served by Lines 7 (Ruby) and 8 (Diamond), running from 4:00 AM to midnight.

Long-Distance Buses: The Barra Funda Bus Terminal is right next to the Memorial — ideal for travelers arriving from other Brazilian cities by coach.

By Air: Travelers arriving at Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) or Congonhas Airport (CGH) can take the Airport Bus Service, which connects both airports directly to the Barra Funda Bus Terminal.

By Car: If driving is unavoidable, consider parking at a more distant metro station and taking the train for the final leg. Or arrive very early to have any chance of finding a spot — and be prepared for slow-moving traffic on both arrival and departure.

Tickets: Types and How to Buy

All tickets are sold exclusively through Clube do Ingresso. A few important rules before you buy:

Each ticket is scanned on first entry only — no re-entry on the same day

Entry is permitted until 7:00 PM

The festival encourages digital tickets

Bangers Open Air - São Paulo, Brazil - Travel 2 Concert

Bangers Card — Single Day: The most straightforward option. Access to all areas and activities for one day of your choice (excluding the Lounge). Best for those who can only attend one of the two days.

Bangers Pass — Two Days: A single QR code that grants entry on both days. The most cost-effective choice for international visitors, since the headliners are split across Saturday and Sunday.

Bangers Lounge — Optional Upgrade: The Lounge is not a standalone ticket. It’s an upgrade you add to your Card or Pass at the time of purchase. It transforms your experience with:

  • Open bar (water, juices, soft drinks, energy drinks, beer, vodka, and whisky)
  • Open food (snacks)
  • Front row access to the two main stages (Hot Stage and Ice Stage)
  • Exclusive bathrooms
  • Priority gate access (Gate P2) for faster entry

Combo True: Combines two-day access with full Bangers Lounge in a single package.

BF Experience: The most complete package: two days + Lounge + a flash tattoo voucher at the backstage tattoo area + a guided tour of the backstage and Artist Village.

Side Shows 2026

One of the best strategies for international visitors is to build an entire week around the festival.

The organizers put together a series of side shows with lineup bands at smaller venues — in São Paulo and other cities — in the days surrounding the festival.

It’s a rare chance to catch your favorite band in an intimate setting, with more affordable tickets.

What to Wear: Weather and Comfort Tips

Bangers Open Air - São Paulo, Brazil - Travel 2 Concert

São Paulo in late April is autumn in the Southern Hemisphere. Days can still be warm, but mornings and evenings get cool, and rain can come at any time.

Keep in mind you’ll be outdoors all day, on your feet, moving between stages. Expect temperatures ranging from roughly 15°C to 26°C (59°F to 79°F) throughout the day.

Comfortable sneakers or boots: You’ll be on your feet for 10 hours or more. Avoid sandals, flip-flops, or any footwear that isn’t genuinely comfortable for long days.

T-shirt: Better than a tank top if the day is sunny — it protects your shoulders from burning.

Hoodie or light jacket tied around your waist: Evenings get chilly at this time of year. Having a layer to hand means you won’t need to carry it all day.

Compact rain poncho: Umbrellas are prohibited. A folded plastic poncho in your bag is the practical solution.

Earplugs: Not just for the faint-hearted. Anyone standing near the main stages will feel the difference. High-fidelity musician’s earplugs reduce volume without distorting the sound — genuinely worth it.

Cap or hat: Useful for daytime shows under direct sun.

Accessibility

All areas of Bangers Open Air 2026, including the Bangers Lounge, are adapted for visitors with disabilities (PCD), with accessibility adjustments throughout the entire venue.

Where to Stay in São Paulo

If you’re traveling to São Paulo specifically for the festival, there are two main strategies for choosing accommodation.

Near the venue: Hotels within about a 10-minute walk of the Memorial da América Latina. Convenient for coming and going on foot, but be mindful of the route at night — depending on the direction, walking may not feel the safest.

Near a metro station: The smarter choice for most visitors. After the show, you walk to the nearest station, take the metro, and arrive at your hotel without a second thought. Good neighborhoods to look in:

Avenida Paulista and surroundings (stations: Paulista, Consolação, Trianon-Masp, Brigadeiro, Paraíso, Vergueiro, Ana Rosa): central, varied options at different price points, and one of the most visitor-friendly areas of the city.

Vila Madalena and Pinheiros (stations: Vila Madalena, Oscar Freire, Fradique Coutinho, Faria Lima, Pinheiros): lively, pleasant neighborhoods — great for those who want to explore the city beyond the festival.

Things to Do in São Paulo Beyond the Festival

If you’re making the trip to Brazil for the festival, São Paulo has a metal and rock infrastructure unlike anywhere else in Latin America. Here’s what’s worth your time:

Galeria do Rock

Galeria do Rock - Rock and Roll Landmark in Sao Paulo - Travel2Concert
Galeria do Rock

A mandatory stop in downtown São Paulo: Galeria do Rock. Multiple floors of specialized stores selling vinyl records, CDs, band merchandise, and accessories. The kind of place you go in for one thing and leave with a bag full.

Rock bars in São Paulo

Morrison Rock Bar - Rock Bar in São Paulo - Travel2Concert
Morrison Rock Bar

The city has a lively scene of rock and metal bars with the right atmosphere to start or end a night — Madame Underground Club, Manifesto, and Morrison Rock Bar are all worth checking out.

Live music venues

Beyond the side shows, São Paulo has an intense gig calendar all year round. Check what else is happening in the city during the same week: São Paulo Rock Concerts

Rock-themed restaurants

Cão Véio - Rock Bar in São Paulo - Travel2Concert
Cão Véio

For meals before or after shows, the city has a handful of restaurants and bars where the décor, the playlist, and the crowd are all rock — including Cão Véio, La Borratxeria Parrilla, and Cavern Club São Paulo.

Rua Teodoro Sampaio

São Paulo’s street of musical instruments, in the Pinheiros neighborhood. Luthiers, guitar shops, bass, drum, and keyboard stores side by side. A worthwhile detour for anyone who plays or simply loves being around music.

FAQ

Can I leave and come back to the festival on the same day?
No. Your ticket is scanned on first entry and does not allow re-entry. Plan accordingly and stay for the full stretch you want to enjoy.

Can I bring children? Is it safe?
Yes. The festival has a dedicated kids’ zone with supervision, and parents can monitor their children in real time via an app. Children up to age 10 enter free — just present their ID document at the gate.

What if it rains?
Pack a compact rain poncho. Umbrellas are prohibited under the festival rules, and in a dense crowd, an open umbrella would be a hazard to everyone around you.

Which is the best stage?
It depends on what you’re after. Hot Stage and Ice Stage deliver the headliners and the largest visual productions. Sun Stage and Waves Stage offer a more intimate experience with closer access to the artists. The ideal approach is to move between all four across the day.

How late does the metro run on festival days?
Line 3 – Red runs until midnight, which comfortably covers the end of shows, scheduled to finish by 11:00 PM. The CPTM commuter rail runs on the same schedule.

Is the Bangers Lounge worth it?
For anyone prioritizing comfort at a two-day outdoor festival, yes. Open bar, open food, exclusive bathrooms, and front row access to the main stages make a real difference — especially for international visitors spending the full day on site.

Is there parking at the venue?
Nearby parking lots fill up quickly and prices surge on event days. The strong recommendation is to use the metro or commuter rail.
