The Beatles in London: 6 Must-See Spots for Fans

London played a key role in the Beatles’ career. It was home to studios, record labels, offices, and cultural meeting points that helped transform the Liverpool band into a global phenomenon.

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr left a lasting mark on the city. From studios and shops to apartments and even the site of their final live performance, London is full of Beatles landmarks. If you’re a fan, visiting these places is like stepping straight into music history.

Here are six easy-to-reach spots that will make your London trip even more special.

The Beatles in London: 6 Must-See Spots for Fans

1. London Beatles Store
2. Abbey Road
3. Local da Apple Boutique
4. Apple Corps rooftop
5. John Lennon’s Apartment
6. Hard Rock Cafe Piccadilly Circus

1. London Beatles Store – Official Merch and Memorabilia

Address: Abbey Road, St John’s Wood (studios: NW8 9AY)
Getting there: St John’s Wood Underground Station (≈400 m)

Why go: Abbey Road Studios is where the Beatles recorded nearly all of their studio albums. Just outside, the pedestrian crossing became a place of pilgrimage thanks to the famous Abbey Road album cover photo taken on August 8, 1969. A fun detail: Paul McCartney was barefoot in the shot, sparking decades of wild fan theories. To this day, Beatles fans line up daily to recreate the scene and sign the graffiti-covered wall in front of the studios.

3. Apple Boutique

Blue Plaque John Lennon and George Harrison - Baker Street - Rock and Roll Landmark in London - Travel2Concert

Address (original location): 94 Baker Street, London
Getting there: Baker Street Underground Station (≈270 m)

Why go: From December 1967 to July 1968, the Beatles ran the Apple Boutique, a short-lived but psychedelic venture selling clothes and art-inspired objects. Today, a blue plaque honors John Lennon and George Harrison on the building’s façade (installed in 2013). The Apple Boutique is a fascinating chapter in the Beatles’ experimental and business ventures in London. Fun fact: at the opening party, alcohol wasn’t served because the store lacked a license—so guests drank apple juice instead. Also, in true Beatles spirit, everything inside was for sale, from clothing and accessories to the furniture.

4. Apple Corps Rooftop – The Final Concert

Address: 3 Savile Row, Mayfair
Getting there: Piccadilly Circus Underground Station (≈350 m) / short walk from Oxford Circus

Why go: On January 30, 1969, the Beatles gave their last public performance here—the legendary rooftop concert at Apple Corps headquarters. The 42-minute set was famously cut short by police after noise complaints from neighbors, but it remains etched in music history as their final live show. Today, a plaque marks the building, and fans still gather on the sidewalk below, gazing up and imagining that magical moment.

5. John Lennon’s Apartment

John Lennon’s Apartment - Montagu Square - Rock Landmark in London, England - Travel2Concert

Address: 34 Montagu Square, Marylebone
Getting there: Marylebone Underground Station (≈650 m)

Why go: John Lennon and Yoko Ono lived here briefly in 1968, and it was inside this apartment that they took the controversial photo for the Two Virgins album cover. A blue plaque installed in 2010 commemorates Lennon’s time here. The flat carries both creative and emotional weight for Beatles history in London. Interestingly, other Beatles were connected to the apartment as well: Ringo Starr bought it in 1965, and later Paul McCartney and even Jimi Hendrix lived here for a short time.

6. Hard Rock Cafe Piccadilly Circus – Beatles Memorabilia

It’s an easy, central stop for anyone who loves seeing authentic pieces of music history up close.
