Cry Baby is a bar in Adelaide, Australia, that stands out for its jukebox filled with rock and roll from the ’60s to the ’80s. Open every day until 2 a.m., it is the perfect spot for those who want to listen to rock classics and have a beer.
The bar has a pleasant atmosphere with a modern décor. In addition to enjoying the music on the dance floor and drinks, customers can also play pool.
Cry Baby has a cozy vibe, blending grunge with a speakeasy style. The décor includes pink neon lights and walls covered with album covers. The low and warm lighting creates an intimate atmosphere.
The bar offers a simple selection of classic cocktails and a good variety of local beers, wines, and spirits. In partnership with Pirate Life Brewery, Cry Baby created its own beer, the Cry Baby Dive Beer. Additionally, the bar sells T-shirts and jackets as part of its merchandise line.
Inspired by an experience at a bar in Melbourne, the owner Jon di Pinto created Cry Baby to fill the gap for more laid-back bars in Adelaide, offering an unpretentious space where people can have fun and relax.
The name “Cry Baby” came about spontaneously when Jon di Pinto was listening to a rock and roll playlist on Spotify and Janis Joplin’s song started playing. Jon was struck by the power of the song and thought “Cry Baby” would be a perfect name for the bar.
