On September 20, 1998, U2 filmed the iconic video for “Sweetest Thing” in the area around Fitzwilliam Place and Upper Fitzwilliam Street in Dublin, Ireland.
The song was written by Bono as an apology for forgetting his wife Ali’s birthday.
The video features Bono riding in a carriage through Fitzwilliam Square, with a series of special guest appearances throughout, including Bono’s wife, Ali Hewson, the Irish group Boyzone, the Artane Boys Band, and Riverdance dancers.
This is one of the most popular spots for fans looking to follow a U2 tour in Dublin.
