Berlin’s Rock Route, Germany
Berlin, Germany, with its unique and countercultural atmosphere, is the birthplace of bands like Rammstein and Die Ärzte, and has inspired countless other artists. It’s no wonder that it’s also a paradise for rock lovers.
Besides the show you’re planning to attend, if you have a few extra days in Berlin, consider taking a rock tour through the city. The Waldbühne, a beautiful historic open-air venue surrounded by trees, was inaugurated in the 1940s and hosts major artists. If you enjoy a good bar, don’t miss Rockcafé Halford, decorated with elements that pay homage to Judas Priest, lead singer Rob Halford, and metal.
David Bowie had a strong connection with Berlin. The British singer and songwriter lived in the city between 1976 and 1978 on Hauptstrasse. Since his passing on January 10, 2016, the site has become a shrine for fans, who leave flowers and memorabilia in front of the building. Be sure to visit the Ramones Museum as well, located inside the bar/café 19:77, which also serves great vegan food.
Vinyl enthusiasts can visit the traditional Dodo Beach and Saturn, a mega electronics store with a great selection of records.
